Evaristo Carazo Aranda was an important leader in Nicaragua. He was born on October 24, 1821, in Rivas, Nicaragua. He later became the President of Nicaragua, serving from March 1, 1887, until his death on August 1, 1889. He was a member of the Conservative Party.

Early Life and Family

Evaristo Carazo Aranda was born to Lorenzo Carazo Alvarado and María del Rosario Aranda Muñoz. His family had deep roots in the region. He married Engracia Hurtado Bustos. Together, they had five children. Their children were named Evaristo, Manuel Antonio, Ernesto, Dolores, and Maria Benita.

Military Career and Leadership

Before becoming president, Evaristo Carazo had a notable military career. He achieved the rank of Colonel in 1856. This was during an important war against William Walker. Walker was an American who tried to take control of Nicaragua. Carazo played a role in defending his country during this conflict.

Presidency and Legacy

Evaristo Carazo became the President of Nicaragua in 1887. He served in this high office until his death in 1889. He passed away while still in office in Granada, Nicaragua. His time as president was part of a period known as the "Thirty Years of Conservatism" in Nicaragua. During this time, the Conservative Party held power for a long period.
