Early Political Career
Evelyn Williams was elected to the New Jersey General Assembly in 2005. She was chosen in two special votes to take the place of Donald Kofi Tucker, another politician who had passed away. Williams, who lived in Newark, was elected to finish Tucker's term. She also served until a special election could be held later to fill the next term.
