Excel (gum) facts for kids
Wrigley's Excel is a popular type of chewing gum and mints. It has been sold in Canada since 1991. If you live in the U.S., you might know it as Eclipse gum, which is the American version of Excel.
For many years, Excel gum used the catchy phrase "Excel-erate your breath." This slogan meant that the gum would quickly make your breath fresh. More recently, the slogan changed to "Eat, drink, chew, Excel." Since 2010, Excel advertisements have featured fun characters that look like food, similar to the ones used for Extra gum. These characters help show how the gum works to freshen your breath.

Different Kinds of Excel Gum
Over the years, Excel has introduced different types of gum. Some have been around for a while, while others were special editions.
Excel Extreme Gum
In January 2006, a new line called "Excel Extreme" was launched. It came in bold flavors like Fuse, Voltage, Charge, and Shock. This new line replaced some older Excel flavors like cherry and lemon. About a year later, an American version of this gum was created called Wrigley's 5. However, Wrigley's 5 was sold in sticks, not the small pellets that Excel Extreme used. By 2008, the Excel Extreme brand was replaced by Wrigley's 5.
Excel White Gum
In June 2008, Wrigley's introduced "Excel White." This gum was designed to replace another product called Freedent Total. Excel White is currently available in three main flavors: Spearmint, Bubblemint, and Winterfresh.
Excel Mist Gum
In 2010, a Canadian version of Orbit Mist gum was introduced under the Excel brand, called "Excel Mist."

How Excel Advertisements Work
Excel advertisements often show funny food creatures like donuts, coffee, garlic, onions, pizza, and even cigarettes following people around. These food creatures represent bad breath. But when someone chews a piece of Excel gum, these food creatures quickly run away! This shows that Excel gum helps make bad breath disappear, leaving you with fresh breath.
