Eyasu became one of the most popular and important Tigrigna music artists of the 20th century. He used his powerful music to inspire many young people in his home country.

Growing Up

Eyasu Berhe was born in a city called Mekelle in Ethiopia. This is where he went to both primary and secondary school. He loved learning and later earned a master's degree in Business Administration from the Open University in the United Kingdom. He was even studying for his PhD when he passed away.

His Powerful Music

Eyasu Berhe was not just a singer; he was a true artist. His music was so inspiring that it encouraged many young men and women to join a group called the TPLF during the Ethiopian Civil War. He played a very important role in getting people excited and ready for a big struggle.

Eyasu later joined a special cultural group created by the TPLF. This group used songs to share important messages about society and politics. Eyasu was a key person in this group, producing most of their songs. About 70 to 80 percent of the group's music, which carried strong messages, was created by him.

Remembering Eyasu

Eyasu Berhe passed away suddenly on January 18, 2010, while he was performing on stage in a place called Alamata. His death was a big loss for many people.

To honor his memory, the Tigray Development Association announced a special plan in April 2010. They decided to build a library in his name in Mekelle. This library was planned to cost 11 million Birr, which shows how much he was respected and admired.
