Ezell, South Carolina facts for kids
Ezell is what people call a ghost town in Cherokee County, South Carolina. A ghost town is a place that used to be a busy community with people living and working there, but now it's mostly empty.
What Happened to Ezell?
Ezell was once a small community. In 1880, a post office opened there, which meant people could send and receive mail. This was an important service for the people living in the area. However, the post office closed in 1906.
The community was named after J. H. Ezell, who was a local merchant. A merchant is someone who buys and sells goods, like a shopkeeper. Over time, people moved away from Ezell, and it became a ghost town.
