FC Dustlik (which means Friendship in Uzbek) was a football club from Uzbekistan. They were based in a town called Yangibozor, near Tashkent. This club was very successful, winning the top football league in Uzbekistan twice, in 1999 and 2000.

About FC Dustlik

FC Dustlik was a professional football team that played in the Uzbek League, which is the highest level of football in Uzbekistan. The club was started in 1963 and played for many years before it stopped operating in 2003. They were known for their strong performance in the late 1990s and early 2000s.

Club Names Through the Years

Like many football clubs, Dustlik had a few different names during its history. Clubs sometimes change their names for various reasons, like new owners or to reflect a new identity.

  • Until 1962: "Pakhtakor"
  • 1963–1991: "Politotdel" (This name means "political department")
  • 1992: "Politotdel-RUOR" (This added "Republican School of Olympic Reserve")
  • 1993–1995: "Politotdel" (They went back to the old name)
  • 1996–2003: "Dustlik" (This was their final name, meaning "Friendship")

Playing in Uzbekistan

FC Dustlik had some great years playing in the Uzbek League. Their best seasons were in 1999 and 2000.

  • In 1999, they became the champions of Uzbekistan for the first time! They won 20 out of 30 games.
  • In 2000, they won the league again, showing they were a very strong team. They won an amazing 30 out of 38 games that season.
  • That same year, in 2000, they also won the Uzbek Cup, which is another important football competition in Uzbekistan. This made them double champions that year!

After these successful years, the club continued to play in the top league. They finished 9th in 2001, 8th in 2002, and 11th in their final season in 2003.

Playing Against Other Countries

FC Dustlik also had a chance to play in an international competition called the Asian Cup Winners' Cup in the 2000–01 season. This competition allows top clubs from different Asian countries to play against each other.

They were supposed to play against a team from Tajikistan called Varzob Dushanbe. However, FC Dustlik could not travel to Tajikistan for the first match due to safety concerns in that country at the time. Because they couldn't show up, they were removed from the competition.
