History of FNTI
How FNTI Started
In 1917, a place called Camp Mohawk was set up in Tyendinaga. It was used for training pilots. Years later, in 1985, FNTI was officially created. Its goal was to help Indigenous Peoples get an education.
In 1989, FNTI started a special program. It was called the First Peoples’ Aviation Technology – Flight program. This program trained First Nations, Métis, and Inuit pilots. They learned to fly at the old Camp Mohawk site.
Working with Others: Partnerships
Since it began, FNTI has worked with other schools. It has partnered with colleges and universities in Ontario. Together, they offer certificates, diplomas, and degrees.
