Fabio Hurtado (born in Madrid in 1960) is a famous Spanish painter. He is known for his unique paintings that often show women in city settings from the early 1900s. His art has a special feeling, almost like a movie scene. Fabio Hurtado has won many important awards for his work. For example, in 2004, six of his paintings were used on special stamps in Spain. These stamps were made to celebrate women's role in culture during the 20th century.

Early Life and Artistic Journey

Fabio Hurtado was born in Madrid, Spain, on January 26, 1960. His mother was Italian, and his father was Spanish. From a young age, Fabio loved art. He decided to study art at the Complutense University in Madrid.

In 1984, he finished his studies and opened his first art studio. He worked as both a painter and a photographer. For many years, he also taught art while creating his own paintings. Over time, his artwork became known around the world. He has shown his art in Europe, the United States, and Asia.

Fabio Hurtado has received many important awards and honors for his art.

Major Art Awards

In 1995, he became a member of the Academy of Modern Art in Rome, Italy. That same year, he received a special Medal of Honor from Queen Sofía of Spain. This award was given to him and nine other talented artists. Also in 1995, Fabio Hurtado won a First Medal for Painting at the Salon de Otoño (Autumn Salon) from the Spanish Association of Painters and Sculptors.

Art in Publications and Museums

In 1998, one of his paintings was featured on the cover of the Telecoms World magazine, which is part of the Financial Times. Later, the Ulster Museum in Northern Ireland bought his painting called Three Seated Women and a Dog (painted in 1997) for its art collection.

More recently, in 2017, the newspaper La Vanguardia chose one of Hurtado's paintings for the cover of its cultural magazine. This special edition celebrated Book Day. Fabio Hurtado's name and art are also included in many important books about Spanish art. Books about his art and collections of his paintings were published in 1998 and 2007.
