Fagg is a small, unincorporated community located in Montgomery County, Virginia, in the United States. An unincorporated community is a place that doesn't have its own local government, like a town or city. Instead, it's usually managed by the larger county it's part of.
History of Fagg
The community of Fagg has a simple but interesting history. A special building called a post office was opened in Fagg in the year 1886. This post office was very important because it helped people send and receive letters and packages.
However, the post office didn't stay open forever. It stopped operating in 1910. This means that for about 24 years, Fagg had its own place for mail services.
The community was named after a person. It got its name from George Washington Fagg. He was an important person in the area because he served as a county sheriff. A sheriff is like the chief law enforcement officer for a county, making sure laws are followed and people are safe.
