A Special Spring

History of the Park
Long, long ago, about 14,000 years ago, native people lived here. These "paleo-Indian people" were the first to enjoy the springs. Scientists have found signs of their ancient homes inside the park.
People have used this area for fun and relaxation for many years. In 1993, the state of Florida bought the land to create the park. Then, in 1997, the Florida Department of Environmental Protection took over its care. They make sure the park stays healthy and welcoming for visitors.
