Who is Farah Tanis?

Early Work and Helping Others
Farah Tanis started working to help women around 1993. She first helped run a place called a women's shelter. This is a safe place for women who need help and support. Her experiences helping others led her to do even more.
Earlier in her career, Farah also helped start an organization for Haitian women in Brooklyn. It was called Dwa Fanm. She was the leader of this group, working to support women in the Haitian community.
Leading Black Women's Blueprint
Farah Tanis is the co-founder and executive director of the Black Women's Blueprint. This group works to support and empower Black women. They focus on making sure Black women's voices are heard and their rights are protected.
Working for Justice
Farah Tanis is also the chair of the US Truth and Reconciliation Commission on Black Women and Assault. This commission works to understand and address difficult experiences Black women have faced. It aims to bring truth and healing.
She also took part in the 2017 Women's March. This was a big event where many people gathered to support women's rights. Farah went to raise awareness about the safety and well-being of Black women. She also helped organize the 2017 March for Black Women in Washington D.C.
