Farmville, Georgia facts for kids
Farmville is a small, unincorporated community located in Gordon County, in the U.S. state of Georgia. An unincorporated community means it's a group of homes or businesses that isn't officially a town or city with its own local government.
What is Farmville?
Farmville is a place where people live, but it doesn't have a mayor or city council like a regular town. Instead, it's part of the larger Gordon County. The name Farmville probably came from the many farms that were once in the area.
History of Farmville
Farmville had its own post office for a while. It opened in 1889, which means people living there could send and receive letters right in their community. However, the post office closed down in 1907. This often happens when communities change, or when mail services become more centralized.
