Farson is located about four miles south of Martinsburg on Farson Road. It shares a rural zip code (52563) with Hedrick and is part of the Pekin school district.

History of Farson, Iowa

Farson was first planned and settled in the year 1902. By 1940, the community had a population of 86 people.

Railroad Connections

A major railroad line runs along the southern edge of Farson. This railway connects important cities like Kansas City, Missouri, and Chicago. Over the years, different companies have owned and operated this railroad. Since July 31, 2002, the Iowa, Chicago and Eastern Railroad has owned it. Before that, it was owned by I&M Rail Link, the Soo Line Railroad, and MILW.

School Changes in Farson

The schools in Farson have changed over time. In 1960, Farson High School closed. Its students then joined the Pekin Community School System. Later, in 1970, the middle and elementary schools in Farson also closed. All students from Farson then attended schools in the Pekin system.
