What Was Faust?
Faust was a very small place, likely just a few buildings or homes. It was active for a short time in the early 1900s. The main sign of its existence was a post office.
The Post Office
A post office opened in Faust in 1911. This means people living there could send and receive mail. The post office stayed open for about nine years. It closed its doors in 1920. After the post office closed, the community slowly faded away.
How Faust Got Its Name
The name "Faust" comes from a family name. The original owners of the land where the community was located were J. M. and R. E. Foust. Over time, the name "Foust" changed slightly to "Faust." This often happens when names are passed down or written differently.
