History of Fayette

Fayette was first settled in 1861. It was originally known as "Warm Creek."

The town's name was later changed to Fayette. This name came from Fayette, New York. That town is important because it's where the LDS Church was started. A post office operated in Fayette from 1864 until 1966. The town officially became an incorporated town in 1948.
