How Mohawk Got Its Name
A post office opened in Mohawk Valley in 1870. This was a place where people could send and receive mail. In 1881, the post office moved. When it moved, its name changed to just Mohawk. The Mohawk post office stayed open for many years. It finally closed its doors in 1926.
