FeedDemon facts for kids

Kids Encyclopedia Facts

FeedDemon was a special computer program for Windows computers. It was like a personal news reader that helped you keep up with all your favorite websites without having to visit each one separately.

What is FeedDemon?

FeedDemon was a type of software called a "news aggregator." Imagine you have many favorite websites, like news sites, blogs, or even comic sites. Instead of checking each one every day, FeedDemon would collect all the new updates for you in one place. It made it super easy to see what was new across the internet.

How Does FeedDemon Work?

FeedDemon used something called "RSS feeds" (RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication). Think of an RSS feed as a special message that websites send out whenever they publish something new. FeedDemon would "subscribe" to these RSS feeds. When a website you follow posted a new article or update, FeedDemon would automatically get that message and show it to you. This way, you could read all the latest news and updates from different sources in one simple window.

Who Created FeedDemon?

The person who invented FeedDemon was a clever software developer named Nick Bradbury. He also created other useful computer programs. Later, in May 2005, a company called NewsGator Technologies bought FeedDemon. They then owned and continued to develop the software.

Connecting with Other Services

FeedDemon could also work together with other online services. For example, it could connect with Bloglines and NewsGator Online. These were other tools that helped people manage and read their news feeds from different devices. This made it even easier for users to keep track of their favorite content wherever they were.
