Feldkircher Lyrikpreis facts for kids
The Feldkirch Poetry Award (also known as the Feldkircher Lyrikpreis in German) is a special prize given to poets every year. It was started by Erika Kronabitter, an Austrian artist and writer. The award is presented by the Theater am Saumarkt in Feldkirch, a town in Vorarlberg, Austria.
Many groups help fund this award, including the Austrian government and local authorities in Vorarlberg. Some private banks also support it. The very first Feldkirch Poetry Award was given out in 2003.
Poets from all over the world can send in their poems to be considered for the award. A group of experts, including German language scholars and poets, decides who wins. The winning poets are introduced to the public in the fall. Their winning poems are then kept safe in the Library of Vorarlberg.
