Felipe Benítez Reyes was born in 1960. He is a very active and well-known Spanish writer. He was born in a place called Rota, Cadiz, in Spain. He still lives there today.

Felipe Benítez Reyes went to college at the University of Cádiz and the University of Seville. He writes many different kinds of books and articles. These include poetry, novels (long stories), short stories, essays (non-fiction pieces), and opinion articles.

His Amazing Awards

Felipe Benítez Reyes has won important awards for his poetry. These include the Premio de la Crítica and the Premio Nacional de Literatura. He received both of these prizes in 1995 for his poetry book called Vidas improbables.

He has also written many popular novels. Some of his famous novels are La propiedad del paraíso (1995) and Humo (1995). Humo won the Premio Ateneo de Sevilla. Other novels include El novio del mundo (1998) and El pensamiento de los monstruos (2002). His book Mercado de espejismos won the 2007 Premio Nadal.

In 2009, his collection of short stories, Oficios estelares, also won several awards. These were the Premio Mario Vargas Llosa NH, Premio Tiflos, and Premio Hucha de Oro.
