Feng Chu started her education in China. In 1986, she earned a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Hefei University of Technology. Electrical engineering is about designing and using electrical systems.

Graduate Studies in France

After her studies in China, Dr. Chu moved to France. In 1991, she earned a master's degree. This degree focused on topics like metrology (the science of measurement) and control theory (how to make systems work automatically). She studied at the National Polytechnic Institute of Lorraine. Later, in 1995, she completed her doctorate degree. Her doctorate focused on automatic control, computer science, and how to manage production. She earned this degree from Paul Verlaine University – Metz. Both of these French universities are now part of the University of Lorraine.

Early Research and Teaching

Feng Chu began her career as a researcher. From 1992 to 1995, she worked for the French Institute for Research in Computer Science and Automation (INRIA). This is a famous research center in France. After that, she became a researcher and then a lecturer at the University of Technology of Troyes. In 2006, she earned a special qualification called a "habilitation" from the University of Technology of Compiègne. This qualification allowed her to supervise doctoral students.

Becoming a Distinguished Professor

In 2009, Dr. Chu joined the University of Évry Val d'Essonne. She continued her important work there. Her dedication and expertise were recognized, and in 2017, she was named a distinguished professor. This is a very high honor for a university professor. From 2013 to 2018, she also held a special professorship at her old university, Hefei University of Technology, in China.
