Ferenc Tóth (30 December 1950 – 4 December 2020) was an engineer and a politician from Hungary. He was a Member of the National Assembly (which is like being a member of parliament) for the area of Paks between 1998 and 2014.

Ferenc Tóth's Early Life and Education

Ferenc Tóth was born in a place called Fadd, in Hungary, on December 30, 1950. He finished high school in Tolna in 1969. Later, he studied to become a maintenance engineer at a college in Dunaújváros, graduating in 1974.

He also became a secondary school teacher in Dunaújváros in 1976. He continued his studies at the University of Pécs until 1993, focusing on economics.

Ferenc Tóth's Career Journey

After college, Tóth worked as an engineer at a farm cooperative in Fadd starting in 1974. From 1981, he taught at a children's home in Fadd. He also worked in public health, dealing with radiation protection from 1988 to 1990.

Later, he started his own business for a couple of years. In 1996, he became a sales director for a company called Mészkő és Dolomit. He also helped manage a fund that supported businesses in Tolna County starting in 1999. Ferenc Tóth enjoyed sports too. He played handball for many years and was part of the Hungarian Olympic Committee from 1998 to 2001.

Ferenc Tóth's Political Career

Ferenc Tóth began his political journey in 1990. He ran as an independent candidate and was elected mayor of his hometown, Fadd. He served as mayor for four years.

In 1998, he was elected to the Hungarian Parliament. He ran as an independent candidate but was supported by the Fidesz political party. He represented the Paks area. He was also re-elected as a local representative in Fadd that same year.

Tóth kept his seat in Parliament in the 2002 national election. He continued to work on the Education and Science Committee. In 2003, he became the head of the local Fidesz party branch. He was re-elected to Parliament for Paks in both 2006 and 2010. From 2011 to 2014, he served as the Director of the Government Office for Tolna County.

Ferenc Tóth's Personal Life and Passing

Ferenc Tóth was married to Erzsébet Deák, who was a high school teacher. They had two sons: Ferenc, who became a veterinarian, and András.

In 2019, Ferenc Tóth received an important award called the officer's cross of the Hungarian Order of Merit. In his retirement, he planned to read classic Russian books and continue his hobbies in sports and music.

Sadly, Ferenc Tóth passed away on December 4, 2020. He died from COVID-19 during the pandemic, just a few weeks before his 70th birthday.
