Fidesz – Hungarian Civic Alliance (in Hungarian: Fidesz – Magyar Polgári Szövetség), often called just Fidesz, is a major political party in Hungary. A political party is a group of people who share similar ideas about how a country should be run. Fidesz focuses on ideas that support Hungarian national pride and traditions.
Fidesz works closely with another party called the Christian Democratic People's Party (KDNP). The KDNP is sometimes seen as a "satellite party." This means it is strongly influenced by Fidesz and often follows its lead.
What is Fidesz?
Fidesz was started in 1988. It has grown to become one of the most important political groups in Hungary. The party's main goal is to promote Hungarian values and interests. They believe in strong national identity and traditional ways of life.
How Fidesz Works
The party has been led by Viktor Orbán for a long time, since 2003. He is the President of Fidesz. Under his leadership, Fidesz has become very popular in Hungary. They have won many elections and have a strong presence in the government.
Fidesz in Hungarian Politics
Fidesz has been the most popular party in Hungary since the elections in 2010. This means that many people in Hungary have voted for Fidesz. They have held a majority of seats in the Hungarian Parliament for several years. This allows them to make many decisions about how the country is governed.
