Fermín IV Caballero Elizondo (born in December 1974) is a famous Mexican rapper and Evangelical pastor. He is best known as one of the original members of the important Mexican hip hop group Control Machete.
With Control Machete, Fermín IV earned a Latin Grammy Award nomination in 2000 for the song "Sí señor." The group's first album, Mucho Barato, was so popular it received a platinum RIAA certification, which means it sold over a million copies. As a solo artist, he has won two Arpa Awards for "Best Urban Album," once in 2003 and again in 2018.

From Rock to Rap
Fermín IV was born in Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico. He is considered a key figure in the history of Mexican hip hop. He was the main voice of Control Machete and a leader in a 1990s music movement from his city called the "Avanzada regia."
Before he was a famous rapper, Fermín IV was in a local rock band called Prófuga de Metate in the early 1990s.
Rise to Fame with Control Machete
In 1996, a producer named Toy Selectah brought Fermín IV and Patricio Elizalde together to form the group Control Machete. Their first album, Mucho Barato, came out in 1997. The song "Comprendes Mendes" became a huge hit.
Their next album was Artillería Pesada Presenta. It featured the single "Sí Señor," which was nominated for "Best Rock Song" at the Latin Grammy Awards in 2000.
During his time with the group, Fermín IV performed on stage with world-famous artists like U2, Eminem, and David Bowie. He toured all over the Americas and Europe.
A New Path: Solo Career and Faith
Fermín IV left Control Machete in 2000 to start his solo career. His last work with the group was the song "De ... Amores," which was on the soundtrack for the Oscar-nominated movie Amores....
His first solo album was Boomerang. It included the song "004," which was featured in the movie .... This album won an Arpa Award.
Becoming a Pastor
In 2001, Fermín IV became a Protestant Christian. He started making music with his church, Semilla de Mostaza. He appeared on their albums and even a live concert recording. In 2006, he became a pastor at the church.
He continued to release music with a positive message. He released a live album in 2004 and a studio album, Los que Trastornan al mundo, in 2005.
Return to the Music Scene
After a few years away from the spotlight, Fermín IV returned in 2014 with a short album called an EP, titled Y Mi Vida Comenzó.
In 2017, he signed a record deal with Sony Music. He released another EP called Odio / Amor, which won him his second Arpa Award. In 2018, he released several new songs with other artists, leading up to his 2019 album, Decisiones.
