His Teaching Career
Valdés Dal-Ré loved to teach. He shared his knowledge at several universities in Spain, including the University of Salamanca and the University of Valladolid. He also taught at the Complutense University of Madrid until he retired. His teaching career wasn't just in Spain; he was also a professor in France at the Paris Nanterre University and Lumière University Lyon 2. In 2015, the University of Valladolid gave him an honorary doctorate, which is a special award for his achievements.
His Work in Law and Government
Before becoming a professor, Valdés Dal-Ré worked as a labour inspector from 1968 to 1974. This job meant he checked to make sure workplaces followed rules about how people should be treated at work.
He also worked at the Constitutional Court of Spain from 1983 to 1985. This court makes sure that laws follow the country's constitution. From 1986 to 1990, he held a very important position as the Solicitor General of Spain. This role involves representing the government in legal matters.
In 1983, he was elected to be a member of the first group of lawmakers for the region of Castile and León.

In July 2012, Fernando Valdés Dal-Ré was chosen to become a judge, or "magistrate," at the Constitutional Court of Spain. He served on this important court until 2020.
