Exploring Ferne Clyffe's Natural Wonders

Ferne Clyffe State Park is full of amazing natural sights. It has tall limestone bluffs and thick forests. You can also find cool cliff caves here. After it rains, you might see small waterfalls. These waterfalls are fed by water running off the bluffs.

Discovering Ferne Clyffe Lake

In the late 1950s, the IDNR built a special dam. This dam was placed across a stream called Buck Branch Creek. By 1960, the dam had created a new, artificial lake. This lake is now known as Ferne Clyffe Lake. It adds to the park's natural beauty.
