Where Does the Ferocactus robustus Live?
The Ferocactus robustus cactus is found mostly in Mexico. You can see it growing in the states of Puebla and Veracruz. It's quite common in these areas.
What Does the Ferocactus robustus Look Like?
This amazing cactus can grow into very large groups, almost like big green cushions! These groups can reach up to 100 centimeters (about 3 feet) tall. They can also spread out to be as wide as 5 meters (about 16 feet) across.
Each individual cactus is usually round or shaped like a club. It has eight sharp edges, which are called ribs.
Flowers and Fruits
The flowers of the Ferocactus robustus are shaped like funnels and are bright yellow. They grow to be about 3 to 4 centimeters (1 to 1.5 inches) long. After the flowers bloom, the cactus produces round, juicy fruits. These fruits are yellow and are typically 2 to 3 inches long.
