Filderstadt facts for kids
Filderstadt is a town located in the district of Esslingen, in the state of Baden-Württemberg, Germany. It is about 13 kilometers (around 8 miles) south of the big city of Stuttgart.
Filderstadt is very close to the Stuttgart Airport and a new exhibition center for trade fairs.
How Filderstadt Was Formed
Filderstadt was created in 1975. Before that, it was five smaller, separate towns. These towns were Bernhausen, Bonlanden, Plattenhardt, Sielmingen, and Harthausen. They all joined together to form the single town of Filderstadt.
Sports in Filderstadt
From 1978 to 2005, Filderstadt was famous for hosting a major tennis tournament called the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix. This was a big event for women's professional tennis, part of the WTA tour. Many top tennis players came to Filderstadt to compete.
