Filip's Football Journey: Club Career
Starting Out: Red Star Belgrade and Rad
Filip Đorđević began his football career in his hometown, playing for Red Star Belgrade. He spent eight years with this club. During this time, he also played for Rad on loan. He only played in eight league games for Red Star before moving to France.
Success in France: FC Nantes
Filip was loaned to Nantes, a team in France's second division, Ligue 2. He helped them get promoted to the top league, Ligue 1, after the 2007–08 season. Because of his good performance, Nantes signed him permanently for four years.
When Nantes returned to Ligue 1, Filip played in 19 league games and scored two goals during the 2008–09 season. However, Nantes was sent back down to Ligue 2. In the next season, 2009–10, his stats were similar, and Nantes stayed in Ligue 2.
Filip really started to shine in the 2010–11 season. He played in 36 league games, scoring 12 goals and helping with 5 assists. In the 2011–12 season, still in Ligue 2, he played 28 games, scored 6 goals, and made 5 assists.
In the 2012–13 season, Filip's performance was amazing! He scored 20 goals in 34 league games, becoming the top scorer in Ligue 2. This helped Nantes get promoted back to Ligue 1. In August 2013, another big club, Lyon, offered a lot of money for him, but Filip and Nantes decided not to make the transfer. Back in Ligue 1, Filip scored seven goals in his first 12 games, competing with famous players like Radamel Falcao and Zlatan Ibrahimović for the top scorer spot.
Moving to Italy: S.S. Lazio
On March 19, 2014, Filip announced he would leave Nantes to join Lazio, an Italian team in Serie A. He joined Lazio for free on July 1, 2014, after his contract with Nantes ended.
Filip scored his first goals for Lazio on September 29, 2014. He scored three goals (a hat-trick) as Lazio beat Palermo 4–0. This win helped Lazio move up in the Serie A standings. He scored again in the next match, helping Lazio win 3–2 against Sassuolo.
Later Career: Chievo
On June 13, 2018, Chievo announced that Filip Đorđević would join their team after his contract with Lazio ended. He signed a three-year contract with an option for a fourth year.
Playing for His Country: International Career
Filip Đorđević was first called up to the Serbian national team in November 2007 for a Euro 2008 qualifying match, but he didn't play in that game.
