The Fishermen's Wharf Market, also known as Wharf Shed 1, is a big indoor building in Port Adelaide. It's a popular spot for Sunday markets. You can find it right next to the Birkenhead Bridge in the Inner Harbor area of Port Adelaide.
A Look Back: The Market's History
Back in the 1930s, the McLaren Wharf area was changed and improved. This was done to handle more ships coming into Port Adelaide. These ships brought in lots of goods. To store these goods, large buildings called "wharf sheds" were built. The Fishermen's Wharf Market building is special because it's the only one of these original wharf sheds still standing in the inner harbour today.
When Can You Visit?
The market is open at specific times for you to explore:
- Every Sunday from 9 AM to 5 PM.
- On Monday Public Holidays, it's also open from 9 AM to 5 PM.
