Five Points, Pickaway County, Ohio facts for kids
Five Points is a small, unincorporated community located in Monroe Township, Pickaway County, in the U.S. state of Ohio. An "unincorporated community" means it's a place where people live, but it doesn't have its own local government like a city or a village. Instead, it's part of the larger township and county.
History of Five Points
This unique community got its name from a special reason: it was built around a place where five roads met! Imagine a big intersection with five different directions you could go. That's how "Five Points" got its name.
The first store in the area opened its doors in Five Points in 1849. This was a big deal because it meant people living nearby could buy supplies without traveling far. A few years later, in 1853, a post office was also set up in Five Points. This made it easier for people to send and receive letters and packages. The post office served the community for many years, finally closing in 1905.
