For many years, until 2012, Five Star Island was owned by a very successful businessman named Curt Engelhorn. He was originally from Germany but lived in Gstaad, Switzerland.
Curt Engelhorn was known for his involvement in a large pharmaceutical company. He made significant donations to important places in Bermuda, like the Bermuda College and the Bermuda Biological Station. These donations helped support education and scientific research on the island.
