Flag of Tuvalu facts for kids
The flag of Tuvalu is a special symbol for the country of Tuvalu. It was first used when Tuvalu became an independent nation in 1978. Before that, Tuvalu was part of the Gilbert Islands. The flag you see today was officially adopted on April 11, 1997.
What the Flag Looks Like
The flag of Tuvalu has a light blue background. This style is called a "Blue Ensign," which is often used by countries that were once connected to the British Empire. On the side of the flag furthest from the flagpole, there are nine bright yellow stars. These stars have five points each. They are arranged to show the map of the nine islands that make up Tuvalu.
