Flemming "Bamse" Duun Jørgensen (born February 7, 1947 – died January 1, 2011) was a very popular Danish pop singer and actor. Many people knew him as "Bamse," which means "Teddy Bear." He was best known as the lead singer of the band Bamses Venner, which means Teddy Bear's Friends. Bamse was a big part of the Danish music scene for over 35 years. He sold more than 3.5 million albums, which is a huge number!

Flemming Duun Jørgensen was born in Randers, Denmark. He became famous as "Bamse" because of his warm personality and voice. He played the bass guitar and was a talented songwriter. He made music that many people loved to listen to.

His Music and Hits

Bamse was the lead singer of Bamses Venner. This band became very popular in Denmark. They played pop music that was easy to sing along to. Bamse also released several solo albums. His last solo album was called Tæt på (Close-up) and came out in 2010.

One of his first and biggest hits was a song called Vimmersvej. This song came out in 1975. It was based on a famous song called "The Lion Sleeps Tonight." In 2018, a road in Thisted, Denmark, was even renamed "Vimmersvej" because of the song!

Acting Career

Besides singing, Flemming "Bamse" Jørgensen also worked as an actor sometimes. In 1986, he won a special award called a Robert Award. This award was for being the best male supporting actor of the year. He won it for his role in the movie Ofelia kommer til byen, which means Ophelia Comes to Town.

His Passing

Flemming "Bamse" Jørgensen passed away on New Year's Day, January 1, 2011. He was almost 64 years old. He died at his home in Egå, which is a suburb of Aarhus, Denmark.
