The Florence and Isaac Budovitch House is a special old home located in Wilmington, Delaware. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2020. This means it's an important building that should be protected because of its history.
Building a Special Home
The Florence and Isaac Budovitch House was built between 1955 and 1956. A famous architect named Edgar Tafel designed it. Florence and Isaac Budovitch asked him to build their home.
At that time, it was hard for some families to find a home they wanted to buy. This was because of unfair rules about who could live in certain neighborhoods. So, the Budovitch family decided to build their own unique house instead.
House Style and Design
The house was built in a modern style called "Contemporary." It also has ideas from the "Prairie School" style. This style was made famous by architect Frank Lloyd Wright. It often features flat roofs, open spaces, and lines that blend with the landscape.
