Florida Agricultural Museum facts for kids
The Florida Agricultural Museum is a cool place to visit in Palm Coast, which is in Flagler County, Florida. It's like stepping back in time to see what life was like for farmers and pioneers in Florida.
This museum has many interesting things to explore. You can see a restored pioneer home from the 1890s. There's also an old-fashioned dry goods store, which sold all sorts of items people needed long ago. The museum also has five buildings that were part of a citrus farm from the 1930s, during the Great Depression. Plus, there's a huge dairy barn that's 5,000 square feet! You can even go on horseback trail rides there. The museum is located at 7900 Old Kings Road.
The Old Florida Museum
The Old Florida Museum is another special part of the Florida Agricultural Museum. It's a "living history" museum, meaning it brings history to life! It teaches visitors about Florida's past through different exhibits. You can learn about the Timucua people, who were Native Americans living in Florida, and the Florida Cracker pioneers.
Before 2019, the Old Florida Museum was in St. Augustine. It was set up like an old wooden fort and taught about 18,000 students each year. Now, it's located within the Florida Agricultural Museum. The museum often hosts school field trips, which are a great way for students to learn about history. In 2023, the museum held its first "Lost Arts Festival." This festival showed how people used to do things like blacksmithing (working with metal), woodworking, canning food, and making candles.
