Florinda Meza García, born on February 8, 1949, is a talented Mexican actress, comedian, television producer, and writer. She is famous for her roles in popular TV shows created by Roberto Gómez Bolaños. Many people know her best as Doña Florinda and Popis from El Chavo del Ocho. She also played La Chimoltrufia in the Chespirito show and had many parts in El Chapulín Colorado.
Early Life and Famous Roles
Florinda Meza was born in Juchipila, Zacatecas, Mexico. Her parents were Emilia García and Hector Meza.
She began her acting career when Roberto Gómez Bolaños chose her for roles in his TV shows. She became very well-known for playing Doña Florinda and later Popis in the Televisa sitcom El Chavo del Ocho. This show became a huge hit around the world. El Chavo del Ocho aired from 1973 to 1980, and the characters continued to appear in sketches until 1992.
During her time on the Chespirito television series, Florinda Meza also played other memorable characters. One of these was María Expropiación Petronila Lascuráin y Torquemada, also known as "La Chimoltrufia." She was the wife of the character "Botija," played by Édgar Vivar, in the sketch "Los Caquitos." Florinda Meza also had important roles in Chespirito's other main sitcom, El Chapulín Colorado.
After the Chespirito show finished in 1995, Florinda Meza and Roberto Gómez Bolaños traveled a lot together. They had a long relationship and got married in a civil ceremony on November 19, 2004.
Besides acting, Florinda Meza also worked on several movies. She also produced telenovelas, which are like long TV dramas. Some of the telenovelas she produced include La Dueña, Alguna Vez Tendremos Alas, and Milagro y Magia. She also acted in Milagro y Magia.
