Flower Hill Village Park is a fun place for everyone in the Village of Flower Hill, Long Island, New York State. It's a park owned by the village. Before, it was known as Flower Hill County Park and was owned by Nassau County.
About Flower Hill Village Park
Park History
This park was first created in the early 1960s. Back then, it was called Flower Hill County Park. It was owned by Nassau County.
In 2006, the Village of Flower Hill bought the park. They also bought a part of Stonytown Road. This made the park officially a village-owned park.
Cool Upgrades in the 2010s
The park got many exciting new features in the 2010s. These updates made the park even better. They added new plants, a playground, and sports areas.
In 2011, a new playground was built for younger kids. This area was for children aged 2 to 5. Money for this came from a special grant. The Nassau County Legislature helped provide the funds. The playground opened in the fall of that year.
In July 2014, a new basketball court opened. Important village leaders were there. This included Elaine Phillips, who was the Mayor of Flower Hill. New York State Senator Jack Martins also attended.
On August 1, 2016, another part of the playground opened. This section was for older kids, aged 5 to 12. Village officials were proud to open this new area.
Where is the Park?
Flower Hill Village Park is located near Port Washington Boulevard (NY 101). It sits between Stonytown Road and Bonnie Heights Road.
You can park your car along Stonytown Road. There is also parking at Village Hall. Village Hall is right across from the park's Bonnie Heights Road entrance.
The village also has a special path for bikes and walkers. This path starts on Stonytown Road. It ends right at the park, making it easy to get there.
