Early Life and Education
Floyd E. Clack was born in Houston, Texas. He loved learning and went on to earn a master's degree in Education from Eastern Michigan University in 1972.
After finishing his studies, Mr. Clack became a teacher. He taught for many years in the public schools in Flint, Michigan. He also worked as a guidance counselor, helping students with their school and career choices.
A Career in Public Service
Mr. Clack began his journey in politics by being elected to the Flint City Council in 1979. This council helps make important decisions for the city of Flint. He served on the council for many years, until 1992.
Serving the State
In 1992, Floyd Clack was elected to the Michigan House of Representatives. This is where laws are made for the entire state of Michigan. He worked as a state representative until 1996. He could not run again because of rules about how long someone can serve.
After his time in the state house, Mr. Clack continued to serve the public. From 1996 to 2004, he was a member of the Genesee County Board of Commissioners. This group helps manage the county's services and budget.
Helping Universities
In 2005, Governor Jennifer Granholm chose Mr. Clack to join the Eastern Michigan University Board of Regents. This board is a group of people who oversee the university and help make sure it runs well. He served on this board until his death.
Later Political Efforts
Floyd Clack also tried to become the mayor of Flint in 2003, but he was not successful. In 2006, he ran for a seat in the Michigan Senate, which is another part of the state government, but he did not win that election either.

Floyd Clack was married to Brenda Clack. She also served in the state house, just like her husband.
Floyd Clack passed away on April 3, 2025.
