Fly Island is a very small island in Queensland, Australia. It is part of the Palm Islands group. This island is not home to any people.
Along with nine other islands in the Palm Islands group, Fly Island is managed by the Palm Island Aboriginal Shire Council. This council is a local government area for the region.
A Special History
On September 20, 1941, Fly Island was officially set aside as a special area for Aboriginal people. This was done along with other small islands nearby. The idea was to expand the Palm Island Aboriginal Settlement. However, Fly Island was never actually used for this purpose.
Where is Fly Island?
Fly Island is located a short distance northwest of Havannah Island. It is about 50 kilometres (31 mi) southeast of the town of Ingham. The closest island to its west is Pandora Reef.
