Flávia Alessandra Martins da Costa (born June 7, 1974) is a famous Brazilian actress. She is well-known for her many roles in TV shows (called telenovelas in Brazil) and movies.

Flávia Alessandra was born on June 7, 1974, in Arraial do Cabo, a city in the state of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Her mother, Raquel, was a teacher, and her father, Hélio, was a navy commander. Flávia is the youngest of three children. She has an older sister, Keila, and an older brother, Hélio.

Flávia has two daughters. Her first daughter, Giulia Martins, is from her marriage to Marcos Paulo. They divorced in 2002. Her second daughter, Olívia Costa, is from her marriage to Otaviano Costa, whom she married in 2006.

Because her grandfather was from Portugal, Flávia also has Portuguese citizenship.

Flávia Alessandra's Acting Career

Flávia Alessandra started her acting career on television in 1989. Her first role was in the telenovela (a type of soap opera) called Top Model. She got this role after winning a competition on a popular TV show called Domingão do Faustão. She came in first place, beating out other actresses like Adriana Esteves and Gabriela Duarte. All three of them ended up acting in the telenovela.

Main Roles in Telenovelas

In 2001, Flávia got her first main role in a big telenovela called Porto dos Milagres. She played the character Lívia Proença de Assunção. The show was created by famous writers Aguinaldo Silva and Ricardo Linhares.

The next year, in 2002, she played another main character, Lívia, in O Beijo do Vampiro (which means The Vampire's Kiss).

In 2005, she played a villain named Cristina in Alma Gêmea (meaning Soul Mate). This telenovela was very popular and had a huge audience in Brazil.

From 2006 to 2007, Flávia played Vanessa in Pé na Jaca. This show was so successful that it even led to a clothing line and other fashion items for women. In 2007, she worked with Aguinaldo Silva again, playing Alzira in Duas Caras.

In 2009, she was the main character, Dafne, in Caras & Bocas (meaning Faces & Mouths), acting alongside Malvino Salvador.

In 2011, she took on a unique challenge in Morde & Assopra. She played two different roles: Naomi, a human, and Naomi, a robot! In 2012, she starred as Érika in the popular evening telenovela Salve Jorge.

Later, in 2014, she played Heloísa, the mother of the main character Líli, in Além do Horizonte. In 2016, she played the main villain, Sandra, in Êta Mundo Bom!.
