About Foosackly's
How Foosackly's Started
Foosackly's was created by two friends, Will Fusaiotti and Eric Brechtel. They both went to Louisiana State University. Will moved to Mobile, Alabama, in 1995. He helped his dad open a Smoothie King store there.
Before opening their first Foosackly's, Will and Eric had never cooked fried chicken. They learned how to do it just the weekend before their restaurant opened! The very first Foosackly's opened its doors on April 28, 2000. It was located on University Boulevard in Mobile.
Where You Can Find Foosackly's
Since 2000, Foosackly's has grown quite a bit. It is now a small chain of restaurants. There are 14 locations operating in Alabama. These include cities like Mobile, Daphne, Foley, and Auburn. You can also find two locations in Pensacola, Florida.
In 2020, a new Foosackly's opened in Tuscaloosa. The company has plans to open even more restaurants. They want to expand in Baldwin County and Pensacola. Will Fusaiotti, one of the founders, has said that it's important to keep restaurants open and successful, not just to open many new ones.
Foosackly's During the Pandemic
In early 2020, like many restaurants, Foosackly's had to change how it served customers. This was because of the COVID-19 pandemic. All their dining rooms closed in mid-March 2020. However, customers could still get their food. They used the drive-thru, ordered for take-away, or picked up their food. Since then, the dining rooms have reopened for people to eat inside again.
Foosackly's Advertising Campaigns
Foosackly's has had some interesting advertising. One campaign became famous around the world in 2008. This was during a big argument about who would build new airplanes for the U.S. Air Force. Boeing and a team of Northrop Grumman and EADS were competing. The contract was first given to Northrop Grumman/EADS. They planned to build the planes in Mobile, Alabama.
Boeing was not happy about this decision. So, Foosackly's put up billboards that said, "We would like to offer Boeing a finger." This was a playful way of saying they wanted to give Boeing their famous chicken fingers. People loved this ad! Bumper stickers with the slogan were sold in places as far away as California and France.
Almost four years later, in July 2012, Airbus announced something big. Airbus, which is part of EADS, decided to build its first North American factory in Mobile. Foosackly's then came up with a new slogan. It read, "We'd like to offer Airbus a hand." This showed their support for the new factory coming to Mobile.
Customer Data Security
In 2018, Foosackly's faced a challenge with customer data. The company reported that there was a problem with credit card information. This issue affected customer data from March 2018 through August 2018. The company worked to address the situation and protect customer information.
