Foreland Point
Foreland Point, a rocky headland in Devon.

Foreland Point is a famous rocky headland found in Devon, England. It is very close to the town of Lynmouth. This point is special because it is the most northern spot along the coast of Devon and Exmoor.

The cliffs at Foreland Point are quite tall. The highest cliff reaches about 89 meters (292 feet) above the high tide. The very highest part of the entire headland is even taller, reaching around 302 meters (991 feet) near a village called Countisbury, which is about a mile away.

Exploring Foreland Point

Foreland Point is owned by the National Trust. This organization works to protect important places in England. Because of this, some parts of Foreland Point are open for everyone to visit all year. These areas are part of the South West Coast Path, which is a long walking trail. Other parts of the headland have limited access to protect nature.

The Lighthouse at Foreland Point

A lighthouse called the Lynmouth Foreland Lighthouse is also located here. It is operated by Trinity House, which is the official authority for lighthouses in England. Lighthouses are very important for guiding ships safely along the coast.

Protecting the Sea Around Foreland Point

The sea area between Bideford and Foreland Point is a special place. It has been named a Marine Conservation Zone. This means the area is protected to help keep its marine life and habitats safe and healthy. It's like a nature reserve, but for the ocean!
