The building that used to be the National Westminster Bank is located on Spring Gardens in Manchester, England. It's an old bank building that was built in 1902. A famous architect named Charles Heathcote designed it for Parr's Bank. This building is known for its "bold Edwardian Baroque" style. It is also a special "Grade II* listed building" since January 4, 1972. This means it's a very important historic building that needs to be protected.

What Does It Look Like?
The bank building is made of red sandstone. It has a tall corner tower with a small, dome-shaped roof called a cupola on top. You can see decorative Doric columns on the outside. These columns are just for decoration and don't hold anything up. The building also has special "hooded gables," which are pointed parts of the roof that stick out.
Striking Windows
One of the most noticeable things about the bank are its huge windows. These "plate glass windows" were designed to let lots of light into the main banking area. Each window is very large and rounded at the top. They have fancy stone carvings around them and a decorative "keystone" at the very top. The glass itself is special, with bronze decorations and stained glass panels at the bottom. The upper parts of the windows also have small, arched panes of glass.
Inside the Bank
The inside of the former National Westminster Bank is very grand. Some people say it's one of the most beautiful interiors from its time in Manchester, and even in London!
Opulent Interior Design
When you first walk in, the foyer has walls covered in shiny mahogany wood. The main banking hall is even more impressive. Its walls are covered with beautiful green marble. Some of the colorful stained glass windows inside are original to the building. The metalwork on the outside of the building and some of the stained glass show an artistic style called Art Nouveau. This style uses flowing lines and natural shapes.
What Is It Now?
As of February 2024, this historic bank building has a new life. It is now a restaurant and bar called Browns.
