Fortul is a town and one of the seven main areas, called municipalities, in the Arauca Department of Colombia. It's located in a country called Colombia. Fortul shares its borders with other towns: Saravena to the north, Tame to the south, Arauquita to the east, and Güicán to the west.
This town was officially started on January 7, 1920. In 2005, a count showed that Fortul had about 25,379 people living there. Almost half of these people, about 13,081, lived right in the main town area. The population was almost evenly split between girls and boys.
