François d'Harcourt (born December 10, 1928 – died November 5, 2020) was an important French politician. He was known for serving in the French government for many years. He also worked as a journalist and traveled a lot.

About François d'Harcourt's Life
François d'Harcourt was the son of François-Charles d'Harcourt, who was the 11th Duke of Harcourt. His mother, Antoinette Gérard, was a French resistant. From 1954 to 1955, François worked as the Chief of Cabinet for the Ministry of Armed Forces. This means he was a top assistant to the head of the armed forces.
He was also a journalist. He worked as an editor for a magazine called Jours de France from 1956 to 1958. He traveled a lot as a reporter. In 1960, he reported from Africa, and in 1962, he reported from Asia.
His Political Career
François d'Harcourt was elected as a General Councillor for the Canton of Balleroy. He served in this role from 1955 to 1958, and again from 1967 to 1994. A General Councillor helps manage local government in a specific area.
He was also elected to the National Assembly on March 11, 1973. The National Assembly is like the main parliament or law-making body in France. He represented an area called Calvados's 4th constituency. He was re-elected many times and served until 1986.
He was a member of the Union for French Democracy, which was a political party. In 1988, he was elected to represent Calvados's 5th constituency. He continued to serve in the National Assembly until 1997.
Later Life and Family
After his father passed away in 1997, François became the 12th Duke of Harcourt. He also became the Duke of Beuvron. He was married to Isabelle Roubeau. François d'Harcourt passed away in Annecy, France, on November 5, 2020. He was 91 years old.
