Fran Manushkin (born November 2, 1942) is an American author who writes books for children. She was born in Chicago, Illinois. Before becoming an author, she worked as an editor for children's books. She studied at the University of Illinois and Roosevelt University. Fran Manushkin has written more than 20 popular children's books. In 2000, she received a special award for her book Come Let Us Be Joyful: The Story of Hava Nagila. This award was from the Association of Jewish Libraries.
About Fran Manushkin
After high school, Fran Manushkin went to college. She got a certificate to teach. But after teaching for only four months, she decided to move to New York City. There, she wanted to work in publishing.
Manushkin worked for many different publishing companies. These included Henry Holt and Company, Rinehart & Winston, Harper & Row, and Random House. Her very first book was called Baby. It was published in 1972.
Fran Manushkin later wrote many more books. She even worked with the famous boxer George Forman on a book. This book was titled Let George Do It!. It tells funny stories about the real-life Foreman family. Fran Manushkin still lives in New York City today.
