Francis Brewster (born in 1623, died on June 3, 1671) was an English politician. He served in the House of Commons, which is a part of the English Parliament, in 1653 and again in 1656.
Early Life and Family
Francis Brewster was the son of Robert Brewster. His family lived at Wrentham Hall in Suffolk, England. His mother was Amy, the daughter of Sir Thomas Corbet. This made him the nephew of Miles Corbet.
Francis went to St Catharine's College, Cambridge in 1642. Later, in 1646, he joined Gray's Inn, which was a place where people studied to become lawyers.
Political Career
Francis Brewster became involved in politics during a time of big changes in England.
Serving in Parliament
In 1653, Francis Brewster was chosen to be a Member of Parliament for Suffolk. He served in a special Parliament known as the Barebones Parliament.
Later, in 1656, he was elected as an MP for Dunwich. This was for the Second Protectorate Parliament. Interestingly, his father, Robert Brewster, also served in Parliament at the same time, representing the county.

Francis Brewster married a woman named Cicely. She was the daughter of Sir Charles Crofts from Bardwell, Suffolk.
Francis and Cicely had two daughters. Their eldest daughter, Amy, married Sir Philip Skippon. Sir Philip also became a Member of Parliament for Dunwich, just like Francis.
After Francis Brewster passed away, his brother, Robert Brewster (who died in 1681), took over the family home at Wrentham Hall.
