Francis Buchholz's Early Life and Music Journey
Francis Buchholz was born in Hanover, which was then in West Germany. He discovered rock music when he was 11 years old. At 15, he played bass guitar in public for the first time with his high school band. After that, he played in many rock, blues, and jazz bands in his hometown.
While studying engineering at the University of Hannover, Francis also took music classes. He joined a band called Dawn Road. This band included guitarist Uli Roth.
Joining the Scorpions

Francis stayed with the Scorpions for 18 years. During this time, they recorded 12 albums. This was the band's most successful period. They sold over 15 million records in the USA alone. Worldwide, they sold more than 100 million records! Francis received over 50 gold and platinum awards for these sales.
He left the band in 1992 because of disagreements about how the band was managed. His last album with the Scorpions was Crazy World. He helped write one song on that album called "Kicks After Six."
