Francis Hammel (11 December 1950 – 6 January 2021) was a French politician. He worked as an agricultural director and an educator before becoming involved in politics.

Francis Hammel was born in Saint-Valery-sur-Somme, France, on December 11, 1950. He grew up to become an expert in farming and also worked as a teacher. These roles helped him understand the needs of people in his community.
His Political Journey
Francis Hammel started his political career in 1997. He became a Deputy, which is like a representative in the French government. He represented the area of Somme's 4th constituency. He took over this role from Joël Hart.
In 2002, Francis Hammel lost his seat in parliament back to Joël Hart. He tried again in 2007 to become a Deputy, but he was not successful.
Besides working in the national parliament, Francis Hammel also served on the municipal council of Abbeville. A municipal council is a group of people who help run a local city or town. He ran with the Union for a Popular Movement political party. However, he resigned from this local position after only a few days.
