Franciszek Maksymilian Pieczka (born January 18, 1928 – died September 23, 2022) was a very famous Polish actor. He finished his acting studies at the National Higher School of Theatre in Warsaw in 1954. His first acting job was in a theater in Jelenia Góra. He won the award for Best Actor at the Polish Film Festival in 1976 for his role in the movie The Scar.
In 2015, he received a special award called the Polish Academy Life Achievement Award. This award honored his long and successful career.
About Franciszek Pieczka's Life
Franciszek Pieczka was born and grew up in Godów. He was the youngest of six children in his family.
After World War II, he decided to study acting. He went to the Aleksander Zelwerowicz National Academy of Dramatic Art in Warsaw. He started his acting career at the Dolnośląski Theater in Jelenia Góra. Later, from 1955 to 1964, he worked at the Ludowy Theatre in Nowa Huta. From 1974 to 2015, he was an actor at the Powszechny Theater in Warsaw.
Franciszek Pieczka acted in more than one hundred movies. These films were made both in Poland and in other countries. He received many awards for his acting roles. He was also honored for helping to develop theater and film in Poland. Franciszek Pieczka was an honorary citizen of the Godów area.
In 2016, he helped fight against air pollution, also known as smog. This was in his home region of Upper Silesia. He appeared in a video called Nie truj sąsiada! (Don't poison your neighbor!). He made this video with the city of Wodzisław Śląski.
On November 11, 2017, he received Poland's highest state award. This award is called the Order of the White Eagle.
Franciszek Pieczka passed away on September 23, 2022. He was 94 years old.
